"A Slice of Heaven !"
My wife and I stayed recently stayed at the Jamaica Inn for 7days. From the moment we walked in we felt valued and pampered. If you are after a location with amazing views, white sands and blue beaches then this is certainly your spot. The service is exceptional and without a doubt the quality of food would be the best in Ocho Rios. The hotel is classy and stylish, with old world charm, yet is casual and cool. Every experience has been perfect from the beautiful breakfast served over the terrace overlooking the ocean in the mornings to the cocktails served in the main bar over sunset. Our most memorable experiences:
*Sitting back in our deck chair on the private beach enjoying cocktails from the beach bar
*Chatting with Teddy and Rupert (Beach Bar staff) and enjoying many games of competitive croquette
*Kayaking and sailing on the Sunfish (thank you Albert)
*Fishing with Tony (we only caught a 1kg tuna, but it was worth it)
*Eating the fish we caught at the restaurant, thanks to the Chef
*Warm greetings from the reception staff (special mention to Joseph and Petrina, who were amazing and always went out of their way to assist us "no problem mon")
*Relaxing on our verandah and within our lovely room
Thank you to all the fantastic staff. We cannot wait to come back to the hotel very soon. Reggie & Michelle via TripAdvisor.com

"Wonderful"
I cannot say enough about the service at the Jamaica Inn. From the pick-up at the airport, the polite welcome at the desk from Charlene, to the explanation of the air conditioning by Fitzroy, it was an indication to me that I would be treated like royalty. And I was so right. Charlene even showed me some of the cottages when they were being "turned over". They are fantastic. She also asked the head gardener, Weston Henry, to give me a tour. He really knows his stuff - every detail about every single one of the over 200 varieties of plants on the property. He seems to love his job . it shows. We had room #18 and loved the water view of the crescent leading to some homes and 3 other hotels in the distance. It was COMPLETELY private as we sat in our spacious open air living room. Since this wing sits directly at the edge of ironshore, one can feed bread to the little fish. The beach was also very accessible to our room, however. The lounge chairs were very comfortable, and palapas were available. The water is clean here. There is a lovely long, private beach just for Jamaica Inn guests. We liked the food too, and met some interesting people at the Tuesday night cocktail party. I highly recommend this hotel for a quiet, relaxing get-a-way. If you want activities, this isn't the place for you. There isn't a lot to do here, but you can go to town, Dunn's River Falls, etc., and Charlene or someone else at the desk will arrange everything for you. My husband and I can't say enough good things about the Jamaica Inn. marylandGypsy via TripAdvisor.com

"Amazining-Breathtaking-Oasis-Perfect-Romantic-One Of A Kind!"
After spending the first half of our vacation at a large all-inclusive we wanted the remainder of our trip to be nothing but laying on the beach under the sun. The Jamaica Inn offered that and much much more. The positive reviews on Tripadvisor and other sites are 100% true about this place. The facilities and grounds in itself are amazing and brings back the charm of traveling and staying at a top-notch hotel from days long past. Every-room overlooks the private beach with a its own balcony or terrace. The furnishing are top grade with beautiful wood furniture and a spacious bathroom and walk in closet. There is nothing more romantic than having a bottle of wine with your dinner while the sun sets on your terrace overlooking the blue warm ocean! The beach in itself is worth the trip. We have traveled to many places in the Carribean and this is by far the nicest beach we have been to. The sand is white, the water is shallow warm and blue. You can grab a pair of snorkles and swim off to the nearby reef and see some beautiful fishes...And it is literaly only fifty feet from the Beach-bar! We saw more fish there than we did renting a guide to take us. Toney, the local fisherman took us out on his boat for some evening fishing one day. Fifteen minutes into our excursion I caught a twenty pound Kingfish and the chef was kind enough to cook the fish for me for dinner. Nothing better than eating something you caught two hours before...definetly one of the highlights of the trip for me. Thanks Toney! Like previously stated, the hotel is top notch, the beach amazing and meals were spectacular. But what sets this place apart is the staff and management at the Jamaica Inn. This is a family business and has been so since the days of Marily Monroe and Hemingway. Peter and his brother run the Inn now with the help of Mary. We had the pleasure of meeting both Peter and Mary during our stay. That is a common theme there, the staff are exceptionally helpful and seem to know who everyone is that is staying with them....always a smiling face will be my lasting impression of the staff. And of course Teddy the legendary mixologist at the BeachBar for over fifty-two years! Teddy is an encyclopedia, storyteller and the maker of one of the best piña colada I have ever drank....he Man has stayed with the same employer and spent over a half century doing one job...you can trust him with your drink! YouTube him - the Man is not only a Jamaica Inn institution but a Jamaican institution. With all this said, please keep in-mind that the Inn can be expensive and not for everyone. But for the price, you are staying at one of the nicest hotel in the Carribean, on one of the best beaches, and spectacular food. Also, if you are expecting a place where MTV will host their next springbreak party this is not the place for you. The clientele at the Inn are repeated customers who want a low-key place to enjoy a Red Stripe or two under the sun! The Inn will always have a special place in my heart since it was on their terrace a few nights ago under the beautiful sky overlooking the ocean that I proposed to my fiancé. Thank everyone for your hospitality at the Inn, as we are planning our next trip back already!! AliandMinh via TripAdvisor.com

"Unforgettable Honeymoon"
My husband and I wanted to honeymoon at a special place that would not have major crowds but be a smaller, romantic and unique resort. We found that at the Jamaica Inn. From our arrival where we greeted warmly, to our departure when the General Manager and the owner personally said goodbye, it was a wonderful experience. As other reviews have said, this is a serene and beautiful place with amazing rooms and views, friendly staff and great service. It's a place where you can truly get away from the busy every day routine, have breakfast in your verandah every morning and dine under the stars every night - should you feel like it. Our goal was to visit a very special -and most importantly- unforgettable place for the start of our lives together. We certainly accomplished that goal. All the people and the beauty of Ocho Rios and the Jamaica Inn were a part of that. We cannot wait to go back. sunnysrq Sarasota, FL via TripAdvisor.com

Unbelievable...understated luxury My husband and I stayed at the Jamaica Innfor 1 week to celebratte our 10th wedding anniversary. The hotel is truly what they advertise "a small grand hotel". From the moment we arrived we felt truly special. Mary the general manager is unbelievable. We were treated as if we were old friends. The wait staff are all fantastic. I can't name them all, but Alvin, Kamar, Angie, Roshan and the rest, were always there to help. Teddy and his jokes are a real treat and Rupert knew what we liked and when to deliver it. This entire team works like a family. The room was unbelievable. Our room was just like the picture on the online site. Being able to step out right onto the sand to our very own palapa was like living a dream. It was just what we wanted. Peace and quiet with nothing but the water, a book and a drink in our hands! The restaurant was top notch. THe food was super fresh and prepared beautifully. When we were there the head chef had just left and the sous chef stepped in. Kudos to him, the food was delicious. We were never disappointed. On our last night there, Alvin was even able to get the curried goat ,which was not on the menu, for my husband. He couldn't have been happier. The sunsets, the sand, the people....made it the best vacation ever. We will be back.... This place is truly a gem....and shouldn't be missed. Lizg, Montclair, New Jersey via TripAdvisor.com

Elegance and excellenceIn today's world of bureaucracy-driven mediocrity and chain-like sameness, it is refreshing to find a unique place of relaxation where tradition and elegance trump all. My husband and I just returned from our tenth anniversary trip, and as selective consumers, we are not easily impressed. However, we were blown away by the Jamaica Inn. From the moment they picked us up at the airport (professional driver, cold drinks, letter from the hotel), it was clear that service is the mantra at this grande dame. The setting is beautiful...the hotel is immaculate...the food is delicious...the cocktails are divine. And the key ingredient to the success of this property is the people. You will be hard pressed to find a staff member who has been there fewer than 10 years. Whether it's your housekeeper Sadie, your bartender Teddy or your croquet "coach" Rupert, they love their jobs and it shows. On the whole, the suites are not large, but they're elegant and comfortable, and the verandahs are the draw anyway. The verandahs serve as extensions of the room (complete with couches and chairs), which helps to enlarge your living space. We started our stay in a balcony suite and ended in a premier verandah suite directly on the water (you could almost touch the water from your verandah), and both were wonderful. However, if you can swing it, go for the premier verandah suite on the water--we fed the tropical fish in the morning and had our own ocean view throughout the day. There are not a lot of activities per se, but you can be active. We took out the kayaks the hotel provided, we snorkeled on the reefs in front of the hotel, we swam and played croquet. We also enjoyed reading on the quiet beach (helped by the library of books you can borrow) where you often are offered complimentary drinks and are free from the "hawkers" selling their wares on other beaches. There is a nice beach bar and an evening-oriented elegant bar by the dining room. There is a small fitness room (one elliptical, one bike, one treadmill plus some free weights) which does the trick but it is quite hot. We chose to walk/run outside of the resort because it was a bit cooler. We did not choose the all-inclusive plan (the suites have a small refrigerator so you can self-cater), but we did enjoy the meals we ate at the Inn. In addition, we enjoyed local restaurants for dinner, especially Toscanini. The managers are on site all of the time and really get to know the guests--not just at the weekly manager's reception. In fact, they already know many of the guests because there are so many repeat visitors. It was amazing to my husband and me to see the camaraderie and loyalty of so many people. This is a close-knit community--perhaps even a family-- where you are welcomed whether this is your first time or were here two months ago (some guests were). We've been to several islands and many resorts around the world, and we enjoy the variety of different experiences. This is the first time we've left a place asking ourselves "when will we return?" The Jamaica Inn makes a lasting impression and thus far is our siren of the Caribbean. CKR New York City, New York via TripAdvisor.com

Paradise getaway We just got back from an amazing 8 day trip. everything about the Jamaica Inn is top of the line. When we first arrived we were greeted with a warm welcome from Richard, Mary and even her awesome dog in addition to being informed we were upgraded to an amazing room just a few steps from the beach. Our days were spent with top shelf drinks made by the likes of the legends known as Teddy and Rupert and brought to us by an extremely nice waitress named Georgia who started each day by saying "no rum, no fun!". We started off each day with a delicious breakfast with an equally amazing view from our room. Lunch was served at our lounge chairs on the beach which we washed down with a great planters punch or pina colada. The dinners were extremely intimate starting with drinks and hor'devers on the terrace to the options of live music and gourment food under the stars or a candlelight dinner in our room. The weather was perfect and since it was off season we had almost the entire beach and sea to ourselves. one word of advice is to pack alot of sun screen as in the words of andrew our driver "Jamaican sun will crack yo skin" and no worries if it does because the onsite spa will strip you and scrub you down with a pina colada wash and aloe bath. the spa also is set with the most amazing view of the sea and the sounds of the waves breaking beneath you is extremely calming. Even though our 8 days went extremely fast in retrospect the Jamaica inn has a way of making time stand still during your stay. Everything about this place was wonderful and we highly recommend this place if you are considering a trip to Jamaica. Thank you to Mary and her wonderful stay for making this a vacation we will never forget. ilan and Jen NYC, via TripAdvisor.com

Our stay at Jamaica Inn was like a dream come true My wife and I just got back (we stayed July 13-July18) and we had a wonderful time at this beautiful resort. The reviews on this site along with other travel sites are the reason I chose to stay here in the first place. The Room : We stayed in a Deluxe Verandah Suite, it was very clean and combined with the verandah very roomy. What we liked most about this room was that we were one hop over the balcony away from the beach. From there we had 20 steps to shaded lounge chairs and another 20 steps to the beach. The room was cleaned very well each morning and they would come by again in the evening to turn down the room if you wished. The Beach : Very nice and spotless beach. There were many shaded lounge chairs to choose from and since we were here during off peak season there was no problem finding an empty seat. The staff raked and combed the beach every morning. It seemed like they had people tidying up the place 24/7. There was no one other than starff and hotel guests on their beach, very private. The Staff : Everyone was so nice and helpful. Mary was great, after a tiring sight seeing trip we came back famished but it wasn't lunch time, Mary asked the staff to give us the lunch menus anyway. She also helped arranged a surprise (for my wife) parasailing trip! Teddy the bartender, all the waiters and hotel staff were very nice, always greeting us with a hearty hello. Tony the boat man took us on a trip to Dunn's River Falls by boat, he got us there before the cruise ship patrons so that we could experience the falls in a very quite setting and on our own pace. He then took us out snorkeling and to Laughing Waters for some really nice pictures. This was a very nice trip and I would suggest it to everyone. Activities : Other than the boat/snorkeling trip we went on the Chukka Canpoy Tour which was fun but be prepared for a long bus ride as they pick up other people at other hotels then take you to their base camp before moving on to the location of your choosing. My wife has a massage and she said it was wonderful. The Food : All of the food we ate at Jamaica in was prepared and presented professionally. The water glasses were always full and we never left wanting for anything. We really enjoyed most of the food we ate, there were some "local" flavors that weren't our favorite but that is because we are both really picky eaters, not because of anything the food preparers did wrong. Other guests : There were not very many other guests at the hotel when we stayed. We did meet a wonderful couple from Turkey that we spent some time with and exchanged emails with. Everyone else we met was very friendly. If you are looking for a big party every night and crowds of young people then this is not the place for you. We got just what we wanted, a nice quiet time together. Other notes : If you can get transport from the airport through Jamaica Inn I would recommend it. I made the mistake of using the tour bus and it took over two hours to get there. We did have an issue with our fridge and toilet while we stayed but both issues were resolved quickly and professionally. Lastly, I don't know if they are seasonal but the frogs make a terrible racket at night (my wife actually enjoyed it) so you might want to bring ear plugs if that sort of thing bothers you. I would definitely recommend the Jamaica Inn as a wonderful place to stay while in Jamaica. dolphan13 binghamton new york via TripAdvisor.com

ABSOLUTELY PERFECTI have been to over fifty countries and stayed at some of the best hotels in the world and I must say that the Jamaica Inn is an absolute GEM. The staff takes great pride in their work and some of them have been there for over fifty years. I felt like family from the moment I arrived until the moment I left. Thanks to all the staff for making a five day escape feel like a month long stay. I challenge you to find a flaw in this place. Georgous beach, delicious food, and excellent service. Your expectations will be exceeded. If you are looking for a hotel with nightlife, motorized boats, children, etc. try the place down the road. However, if you are seeking serenity, you have found the spot. I would give this place 5.5 stars if I could. cooterbug2 New Jersey via TripAdvisor.com
